“As a teacher I want to encourage others to embark on their own yoga journey.”

More About Ute

I began my yoga practice in the early 1990s while I was looking for a self-help method to deal with my bad back. I tried different styles of yoga and when I found my first Iyengar teacher it all finally made sense.

Parallel to a career in news journalism and raising two wonderful daughters, I started teacher training in 2001 and qualified in 2003. I continued with further study and training, qualifying as a Junior Intermediate I teacher in 2007 and Junior Intermediate II in 2010.

I still devote a lot of time to the study of Iyengar Yoga and yoga philosophy, working with senior teachers in India, and participating in workshops in the U.K. and abroad. It’s a joy to share what I have learnt with my students. I also continue to learn from them, it’s a truly reciprocal process - I’m a student and a teacher.

A Benchmark of Excellence

Iyengar teachers’ certificates are internationally recognised and are a benchmark of excellence. Teachers must be fully trained, qualified and certified by the Iyengar Institute (RIMY) in Pune, India, and also bear this certification mark.
